Hi guys! Once again I come to you in the hope you can help me out yet again! while filling my Passat up with diesel I managed to snap off the fuel tank cover, this is the cover that pops open when you pull the release button inside the car, I’m not sure how I managed this but suffice to say its now in two pieces, the hinge part is still connected to the car the other half of the cover I can still slot into the latch lock but ideally I need to fit a new cover, anybody have any advice on this one??

The cheapest option is finding someone breaking the same model & colour. Failing that you will need either a second hand one or a new one, which will have to be sprayed. Don't be surprised if you are asked £50 to spray it. Sounds daft but alot of body shops don't want to mix paint and charge less than that. Ring a few local ones and ask.

I did the same thing in winter.
It was about £40 for a new one and for the stickers and about £50 to have it painted.

It is held in with one torx screw. The flap, hinge and whole black shroud and rubber skirt is one assembly. If you get a second hand one, note that the estate and saloon ones are not interchangeable even though they look the same.

It takes a minute to remove and refit.
