Audi Coupe 2.3 20v Starting problems

hi

i have just brought a 1991 2.3 20v quattro. but she has a few problems. when it is cold it starts mostly with out any probs but when its warn is takes lots of cranking to get her to start. the prevous owner put new coil leads plugs on it etc no change.

probably a good place to start is to check for ECU fault codes. This can be done fairly easily with a few bits of wire and a l.e.d. or 1.2watt 12v lamp:

a problem with the temp sender for the ecu is a possibility, the one at the rear of the cylinder head. It is possible for this to be faulty but not show up as a stored fault.
