    Hi Folks,
Has anyone ordered touch up paint (lava grey) before from an Audi dealer.
I was coming back from a weekend away last weekend and going along the motorway I heared the dreaded sound..... yes you know the one and you think sh*t I hope that was a stone hitting underneath my pride and joy.( especially as its only two weeks old and this was its first real long run). Oh no ,no such luck a big stone chip forward of the back nearside wheel before the door... Gutted to say the least....
Anyway back to the paint ,how is Audi,s touch up paint systems , and do you get a laquer with it and finally how much are they as I feel it will be a major mark up cost .
I see Audi Stafford do a E-bay paint touch up pack with the laquer for under a tenner , has anyone seen this or tried it.( PS didn't speak to the wife for about 6 hours after it happened as it was someones fault and she fitted the bill ) I did apologies later ,,,,

Ditto. Fortunately I haven't had to use it yet.

Hi, it may be that I'm just a novice and this is how it's supposed to be done but my husband's trick with paint is as follows...

    1) Always go for the spray rather than the stick as the spray is much less thick and gloopy
    2) Don't spray directly onto the car. He sprays onto a plastic lid (off a chinese takeaway tub for example) and then uses a small paintbrush to paint the paint into the chip. This way you use less paint (avoiding the blob) and only put it exactly where you want it to go.
    3) He'll let that completely dry and then go back again if it looks like a dip in the paint
    3) He uses the same technique for the laquer

There were quite a few stone chips on my Avant's bonnet when I picked it up and most of them you can't see now unless you get close.

I bought mine from Bristol Audi for just over a £5 for Aruba blue (paint and laquer pack) Chap came out and got some numbers from the car and then it arrived 24 hours later. I used it on one large chip on the edge of the bonnet. I would recommend you buy some artist brushes and apply it with a very thin brush, not the one that comes with it.

Be patient with it, apply some, let it dry and then revist. It does look rubbish to begin with. I layered the paint up on my chip over a few days, its almost the same level now as the surrounding paint and then I applied the lacquer and I think ive dont a pretty good job. Still doesnt have the finish of the rest of the bonnet but looks pretty good. Ive sinced, washed, clayed and waxed and the paint has not come off. Metallic and Pearl paint are a nightmare to touch up, flat colours are easier.

I would agree that the spray paint is probably thinner and easier to use as described, but you wont get your colour in a spray can. Youll need the proper code and paint mix from Audi for like for like colours IMHO
