I turned the temp down on my climate control and nothing happened, it just stayed as warm as it was before, so as i was passing my local garage i popped it in(its a reliable garage, they only tell you something wants doing if it really does) they have a quick look and tell me some valve is probably blocked as presssure not equalising and tells me it might have damaged pump but not 100% positive on this one.
I have AA parts and labour warranty and was pretty sure my pump was covered, i went home checked paperwork and low and behold it is.
I rang AA to start a claim who then inform me that i cant claim because garage looked at it first.
To put it simply if you have AA warranty they say an AA roadpatrol have to look at the car before anybody else or they wont honour warranty.
What a load of bull i have been with them for 10 years covering both mine and my wifes car i wont be with them ever again.

tried to appeal, they said it was standard policy and i should have read the paperwork when i signed up.
i ponted out that it was 10 years ago, they said it was on my renewal, i ponted out that nobody reads them they just check the amount seems reasonable and pays it.
They are just not interested in looking after customers they just want your money with no intention of paying out when they are supposed to.
As soon as i figure out the best method for taking this further i will be doing so.

I had the same problem with Warranty Direct, they said my master cylinder fault was a pre existing problem and that i knew about it before took out the policy with them so they wouldnt pay out.
It seems a similar story with all of these warranties they are quick enough to take your money but dont want to pay out when you have a a genuine claim.

Im glad you pointed out this issue with the AA warranty as i left warranty direct and took out a policy with the AA instead for mine and the wifes car. I am going to make sure i call out an AA patrol no matter how small the issue might be with my Passat.

Hi you might well be able to provide a counter argument here. The air con that is fitted to your passat requires dedicated test equipment to identify the problem the AA patrols do not have access to the necessary equipment to check the pressure in the system or to check for any air con diagnostic fault codes therefore they would refer you to a specialist anyway.Call them out and see

well i got my reply from the ******** Association

    Thank you for your email.

Your email has been logged against the above Service Request Number.

We are sorry that you have been put to the trouble of contacting us.

I can confirm that your claim has been rejected under the Breakdown Repair
    Claims Terms and Conditions.

In the event of a breakdown you have to contact The AA, we would then send a
patrol out to assist you and if he couldn¿t repair the vehicle we would organise
the patrol to recover the vehicle to the garage and arrange the repair if it was
covered under the Terms and Conditions, as you drove the car to the garage
yourself the claim would be void.

You can put your complaint in writing and send it to the following address, the
department will look into your complaint and contact you direct.
10 years i have never complained and always paid my renewal - never again will i use the AA

surely theres been a misunderstanding here. you WERE going to take your car to a garage, but called the AA first, who advised you that the claim would be void if you did, so you didnt take your car to the garage , but now they think you have.
