Audi paintwork warranty

Hello Again,
Just recently i have given my A6 Avant a full (inside and out) polish and have noticed several paint bubbles coming up on the doors mainly.Are they covered at all by the original Audi body warranty?? It is an AUDI A6 Avant 2004 and i am the 2nd owner.....Thanks

From what you describe,there is a 5 year warranty,from when the vehicle was first registered

Hi kenney,i`m sure its only 3 years for a paintwork defect,12 years for Rust-Through.But its possible it is actually rust through,ok so long as it hasn`t had a previous,none Audi approved repair,as they measure the panels paint thickness.

3 year paintwork warranty,12 year rust-through warranty,is correct,and 5 year zinc oxidation warranty.This is a hugh ongoing problem for both Audi and VW,costing both factories,litterally millions.Basically the problem is impure sheet metal from which the vehicles are produced from.Must be all those old washing machines and nails etc etc which have been smelted down,to reproduce steel plates. However it is not only Audi and VW that are experiencing the problem.

Hi again,i`ve never read anything regarding the Zinc Oxidation in the warranty book,not refered to.How did you come across the `5 year warranty` on that? Is it only brought to our attention at the claim stage!

well i had an 1998 a4 which was 8 years old at the time, this had rust bubbles appearing on the lower doors, i made a claim on the anti corrosion warranty (10 years at the time) i think it is now 12,anyway an independent guy came round an said it wasn't coming from within, so declined it....
i made a claim again for the same car, just before the 10 year's was up , the same guy came round and he APPROVED it.
i got both sides of the car blown over on the warranty.
12 months later the car got written off .
i am currently making a claim for an A6 i have now bought as a replacement
(1999) just made the claim before it was 10 years old.
you have to take it to a main dealer now,who do a paint thickness test , to determine whether it has had repairs done after manufacture, (this invalidates the warranty apparently), they have now taken over 150 pictures to send over to Germany to make a decision, talk about try their
best not to approve the claim, i don't think they will accept it ,as they have said alot of the car has had paint , i acknowledged that some of the car has had paint but not all of it!!,so i'll have to wait and see.
that my experience of the paint warranty anyway.

hi slakey just took mine to local audi dealer srarting to rust on roof near the rails its a a6 avant 1999 and he did the same took photos etc the bodyshop told me because its a big patch they might not do it because it shouild of been pickt up sooner i will let you no how i go on thanks shaun
