    Hi Guys,

I am going to bleed the brakes on the bora as brake pedal is a bit spongy.

Is it ok to mix the DOT 4 brake fluid with the higher performance DOT 5.1 stuff? Does the 5.1 stuff make any difference over the dot 4 in terms of braking perfomance?

Have just fitted the 312 brake discs on the front in place of the 288mm. Big difference so now I want to use the best fluid to take full advantage

    Thanks
    Gerry

    should be ok to mix
doesnt make any difference to braking performance as such 5.1 will withstand higher temperatures ie track racing etc dot4 is perfectly ok for road use and track use unless you are driving like michael shumacher

Thanks for replying. I want to renew the fluid so I may as well replace it with the 5.1 stuff as it now supercedes dot 4?

I must say that I highly recommend the 312mm dicscs up front on the pd 130 , the stopping is far better especially at the higher speeds

.For a car thats nearly a tonne and a half I think 312s should have been standard!
