Hi guys i had my car ( audi a3 1.6 se 2001) mot`d last week and it failed on emissions.

i have taken it to a local garage and they have done a diagnostics and the following have appeared on the machine

    1. 16500 - coolant temp sensor - g62 not plausible signel p0116

    2. 17584 - lambda sensor after cat bank 1 limit attained p1176

    3. 17978 - engine ecu blocked p1570 intermittent

    4. 16554 - fuel trim (bank1) malfunction p0170 intermittant

Can anyone tell me what these codes mean? could it be one failure is causing all 4 to appear.. please bear in mind that the engine light does not sure while engine is on but does stay on when key is turned once on ignition.

Also what am i looking at in terms of cost to have this sort of work done and what would fix the high emissions as a temp fix so i have mot?

    Please let me know asap

    Thanks

    Faz

i would fit a new coolant sensor, after confirming the sensor is at fault rather than the wiring, then clear the codes and see if that sorts it out.

Spoke to the local mechanic, he advised to get the coolant temp sensor changed.

he advised this is the direct result for the high emissions..

do u think this will lead to the mot pass?

plz let me know thoughts guys
