Anyone have access to the A4B8 2.0 litre Turbo fuel, service schedule. I have been quoted 750 AUD service costs for 15klms or one year.
My wife has a Golf Gti 2007 and I have been paying religiously for servicing. Just recently I have purchased a VCDS ( still in major laymen mode) and have been astonished to find the actual content of servicing performed for the prices charged.
I do not not wish to sound miserable, but being cursed with short arms and deep pockets, the major content of VW servicing appears to be greasing hinges, filling water bottles and checking the four tyres are still attached.

I am quite capable of the minor tasks, checking pad wear, oil changes and glode renewal. Major tasks would always be referred to the dealership.

With changing the oil regularly (6 months) and the use of the VCDS to indicate any pending problems, I feel the 750 AUD is a bit over the top.

I welcome all your comments and thank each in advance.
    Regards John

    Dear Strictly,
Bankstown, I am doing some groundwork and really like the A4B8, but paying for it is another issue. The quote for service pricing came from a salesman ( phone) of which I generally disregard anyway.
My main issue concerns the level of servicing. I change the oil frequently and attend to minor matters (ie tyre rotation etc). After having purchased a VCDS and becoming aware of the checks involved as per service klm`s, I believe I am paying for visual checks ( if nothing appears on their factory VCDS unit).
My point is * if my VCDS does not display any fault codes, there is nothing to fix except change the oil and some other small non mechanical items to address. Why am I paying $370/15K and $700/30k ( Golf Gti 07), for this.
I do realise some major services require work that I am not capable of performing, but there is quite a lot of work that I can do, without the service price tag.

Forum members, please let me know if I am heading in the direction of false economy- I am trying to justify the true price for servicing.
As always I welcome the comments from this forum
    Regards John

    Dear Strictly,
Call me ignorant, but the purchase of the VCDS was directly related to identfying the variety of potential problems that may occur prior to the scheduled service.
I would love to hear from the audi techs and mechanics who view this site.

I just can not help feeling that our ignorance of these matters is directly proportional to the costs we incur.

    Best regards always
    John
ps the list you provided, if that is the service schedule for the A4B8, would it be possible to scan and email ?

Hi John,if you value the `Dealer Stamp`in your Service book, then just get the dealer to change the oil and filter only.If your capable to check the rest of the car, which im sure most are,it`ll save you some cash.A basic oil/filter service would only take about an hour or so.Most things are just visual inspections and as you say `top-ups`!
