Just to update you, the AMM was purchased today and i have just sucessfully fitted it. It was very easy to do in the end, and the difference is unbelievable! The problem is completely resolved! I've just spent the last half hour driving round and it's brilliant. I'm sure the car was never this quick when i bought it.

So an all round sucess. Thanks to everyone for their help!

I also noticed that the AMM which i removed from the car had the part number 06A 906 461 and the one i have just put in has the part number 038 906 461C. Does this mean that the car had the wrong AMM fitted in the first place?

Finally i found this link quite usefull.

It's a walk through on how to clean your AMM not change it, but it still came in handy. The guy who writes it updated the post later to say that he didn't think the cleaning had done much and changing the AMM was by far the best option.

I was too tired last night to even switch my PC on.

    06A 906 461 is superseded by 038 906 461 C
