Anyone have any experience of replacing the LCD panel in the dash ?

The panel on my buddies 1.8T is starting to fail - vertical lines . As it is an auto the gear indicator is there too.
He has been told it will require the complete speedo/rev counter binnacle to be replaced. Pats cost £400 - labour unknown.
A second hand pnale from a scrapper would be preferable if it's possible.

Yes you have to replace the whole thing. You need vag-com or similar BUT the main problem will be finding the correct replacement. There are lots of variations depending on equipment level of the car.

that is an expensive shame if he decides on a new one.

yesI agree getting the right one second hand is going to be a challenge.
vagcom won't be a problem in that case though.

    Thanks
    Ian
