A6 MMI 3G radio/TP/TMC problem

Hi Steve,

Yes, I still have the problem. I'm trying to persuade Mrs F that I need a copy of VCDS so I can do some of my own monitoring, but she has her heart set on replacing the en-suite bathroom so I'm fighting a losing battle at the moment.

I will get back in touch with my dealer in the next week or two so see if they have anything new on the problem from Audi Technical. Get your dealer to talk to mine if they want confirmation of the problem, and/or point them to this thread.

My car is booked back in with Stoke Audi on 29th Jan. The Master Tech dealing with the problem is away on a course currently, and after he gets back I am away for a few days, so 29th is the first suitable slot. The car has developed a nasy creak/squeak/rattle from somewhere around the rear window, so they will look at that too (I think the trim round there has been taken off and put back a few times when fitting/removing/refitting signal amplifiers, so maybe it's just not been relocated properly?)

Not much to report after the dealer visit, sadly. They had no response to the DIS report from Audi Tech, but the car has to go back in anyway because the squeak/creak isn't fixed (I have narrowed it down to the offside folding rear seat back). Maybe more luck next time?

Sorry to hear you car is still not sorted out, my car has gone back into the dealership today but they cannot tell me what they are going to do, just the same as yours I guess.

When this does not resolve the ongoing problem I will insist on speaking the manager of the dealership and push for some firm answers and ideally speak to someone in Audi AG.

I cannot believe for one second that this is only affecting a few vehicles.

I have a6 -Sline 3.0 Quattro with same HD nav.
There was a MMI update applied to my car last month which took 2.5hours which seemed to help however radio still does not always detect and change radio station whilst changing areas. I generally end up manually tuning which is not a solution for a £2700 OPTION

Yep - sounds like the same issue. Do you get the TMC dropping out too (and no TP bulletins)?

As Mark suggests in the previous post, it must surely be affecting more vehicles than we are seeing reported on here (but perhaps drivers don't travel far enough regularly enough to notice). Yours is the sixth UK car I know of reporting this problem.

I have now got grudging approval from Mrs F to purchase VCDS with a USB Hex/CAN cable, so I hope to begin some monotoring as A8 Tech detailed earlier in the thread once I have it up and running.

Here is another facet of the problem I have observed. I wanted to switch to Radio 2, but when I looked at the list of visible stations, it wasn't there. I went to the Tuning screen, and tuned in to Radio 2 manually, then back to the station list and lo and behold it was there (as expected - I was now listening to it). I then switched to a different channel, and a couple of seconds later, Radio 2 disappeared from the list once again. I tried this process a couple of times, and it was completely reproducible, so I videoed it with my phone. For your delight I have included the video below!

I have other issues with mine as well.

The telephone sim says live for up to 2 hours after the car is locked up. This causes issues for me as I have two sims with the same number and ring orders on them. The primary one is in the car and the secondary on my hand held device. When the car keeps the primary active after car turned off my secondary device dose not ring. Audi say that you cannot have two sims on the network with the same number and of course they must be right. I have and do and have proved it to my dealer. Other issues with the climate control and gear shift pattern delays in sport mode. Audi want the car for three days!

You can reduce the run on time after ignition off if that helps,The s tronic can be altered via update or basic setting but the changes reflect the driver as the control unit sees familiar driving style so predicts the change.If two drivers use the vehicle and one clog's it whilst the other drives slowly then it could appear to change erratically.

Press the appropriate function selector button to activate the RADIO menu.
First press SET UP and then RETURN and hold both buttons down simultaneously
for approx. five seconds until the display changes.

How do you get it back out this menu to the main user screens?
