good news

the 3g mmi map update has been released in the uk

bad news the software update for now turn left has not but on the bright side you can update your maps

Moving slightly off topic but I think still relevant does anyone know how to stop the radio or media player coming on everytime you switch on the ignition, even if it was muted when you switched off? I have asked at the dealer - "nah thats just how they are mate!"

Sorry as 5f is a master control unit for the media it must start for driver functions and other options it controls

Sorry A8 Tech, I wasn't very clear in my question. I should of said if the radio or media palyer is muted when leaving the car should it not still be muted when returning to the car. I think on my previous A6 with the MMI + cd nav it remembered the mute setting while switched off - but I may be mistaken.

A little bit of further info on the TP/TMC issue - I drove from Calais to Geneva on Saturday with TP active and apart from a small break of 2-3 minutes the TMC stayed active all the way. Not sure about the radio tuning but every time I flicked over to radio it was tuned to a station. Seems to be just a UK issue!

The `now turn left' problem is still present except it has become a `now turn right' problem!

Did you receive any TP bulletins during the Calais to Geneva trip? If not, maybe this demonstrates that the issue is not caused by having the TP feature enabled, but by the system receiving/storing the TP messages? All useful information like this can only help in assisting Audi to understand and fix the issue, so many thanks for your update!

Hello again MF

After experiencing the same problems last year I spoke to my dealer's Master Technician and concluded that it was a software problem and it would be best to wait for a software update.

The software version in my system is: HNav_EU_K0022_1_D1 and the database version is: 8R0060884_ECE 5.5.5. I've switched the voice prompts off (so the faulty voice prompts don't really cause me a problem) but I would really like the TMC/TP problem to be fixed.

I see you've been keeping a very close eye on how the resolution of these problems has been progressing and wondered if you knew whether the new software was expected to fix the TMC/TP problem.

Hi Woody,

I honestly don't know whether the latest software update will fix the Radio/TMC/TP issues. I'd probably guess not, since the DISS report on my car has not been updated by Audi Technical to say "Install the new release and it will fix the problem", but you never know!

I can at least report back on whether the behaviour changes again after the update (as it has with each prior update). In the meantime, have you turned off the TP setting in the radio setup? This at least allows proper radio retuning and a fully functioning TMC as a workaround for now.

Yes, I have turned off the TP and as far as I tell the TMC seems to work quite reliably - I just would like to have the TP as well.

Do you know what software version they're going to install in your car?

You mention a DISS report - is this Audi's fault reporting system? I have only discussed my radio/nav problems over the phone with the dealer and I wondered if I got them to record the problem formally whether it would add a bit more weight to get Audi to fix it sooner.

It's the Revision P update as fas as I'm aware. The last one I had applied was the Revision J update. I don't know what the displayed version numbers in the MMI will be yet - I will report back once the car has been in.

Yes - it's one of the the formal methods of communication between the dealer networks and Audi, as far as I can tell. I imagine the more cars there are reporting the same problem, the higher priority they allocate to fixing the issue, so it certainly can't harm the case to have your dealer raise a DISS report for your car.
