Passat beeping noise!

Hi everyone

I'm confused by my Passat! (1.8t, 1998 Estate)

Every few days, usually when we first start it up, it makes three loud beeps at me. The lights all come on on the dash momentarily as they should, but there are no lights staying on on the display. The brakes have been thoroughly checked, and all is fine. Any idea what it could mean? It doesn't always do it, but when it does it's always when we put the key in and turn the ignition on, even before we start it up.

there's another issue too: sometimes there is a sound when you brake at low speed: almost a musical note, an "mmm" sound (how on earth can I describe it!). Someone said it might be from the ABS. That again is unpredictable. With both of these problems our garage have done stuff such as checked the pads were not binding or the calipers sticking, it has new discs on too. It brakes well. There are no warning lights.

Do you think the problems are related?

I have no idea what to do next...

Hey there,

Next time you start it up make sure all lights are working. Could be something simple for example... You have run out of Winscreen Wash.. but the bulb that lights that up on the display could be blown.
