Stood and watched in disbelief yesterday as my t**t of a neighbour drove his transit van out of a parking space and physically knocked my 2 month old a4 out of the way. Cue lots of shouting, him reckoning he didn't touch it etc etc. Luckily, it hadn't been washed for a week or two so the area where he made contact was bloody obvious!
There is a slight scuff to the bumper - any ideas on the best way to remove/repair the scuffing? Is this a 5 minute job I can do myself, or should I employ a professional and send the neighbour a bill.

    All suggestions greatly appreciated!

My local Audi approved body shop repaired a couple of quite nasty bumper scuffs for circa £250/time. Took a day for each one and finish is perfect.

We had fantastic service for a similar thing on our A3 from http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/.

It's franchises though, so the service could be quite variable..

I'm afraid service is variable. Used them for a scratch on my wife's Golf. Result was he polished it down to primer, tried a spray repair (without telling) and then beat a hasty retreat leaving a botch job.

My advice would be to go to whoever you can get personal recommendations for, whether that is a franchise or an 'approved' operation.

Given that it was your neighbour and that he cant get out of it......... I would take some photos of his van (assuming he has a mark on his van) and get it repaired for correctly on his insurance.

Why should you phone around getting quotes and then not be happy with the results etc.

Your brand new car has been hit some idiot who claims he didnt hit it, shows how much he was paying attention. Tell him that its a new car and you want it done correctly, hire car etc.

he probably will not say hello to you in the morning any more but so what.

However saying this, is the scuff just paint from his van or has it taken paint from your car? So you might be able to do it yourself if you cant be bothered with the time and effort on insurance. I use some Scratch x to remove some black bumper scuff when I car reversed into my old car.

At least you saw it happen! Some t**t towbar-ed (according to the assessor) our Avant in the back when it was parked in a supermarket carpark. The damage seems a bit low down for transit though

Anyway, I think it will be a respray.
