    Greetings!

I've been a Renaultsport Clio 172 owner for the past 3 years and the need for a much bigger car (I'm a sound engineer) has prompted me to look at a B6 estate.

Now, I've found this http://www.arcarsltd.co.uk/view.asp?ID=10004179 example. I drove it on Sunday and it feels as I would expect and powerwise I'm happy with it.

I've tried to find a buyers guide but to no avail! I wonder if you lovely people can offer me any advice on what I should be looking for.

I drive a 1.9TDi S model saloon and I'm very happy with it. Things to look out for include making sure the fuel pump recall has been done. Also, watch out for uneven rear tyre wear (insides wearing more). It seems to be that the VW set up causes this but a four wheel alignment will sort it out. MAke sure it has a full service history too. Other than that I cant really think what else to look out for. Hope all goes well and you will enjoy the car!

I would ask them to do the Cambelt change before you buy it. Price is a tad on the high side for a 1.9 (105) imo.

I thought the cambelt change was 80K?

I will admit the price is a little high, but it did seem to be in very good condition.

I have recently brought a car from here, I have found there was a bit of movement in the price. Please bear in mind the car wil not come with tax so you will have to factor that in to your cost. Also check whether it has two keys as the car I brought didn't so I made them get another for me.

This is probably coincidence but just after (a day or two) I brought the car it started juddering and VW says it needs a new injector. Luckily the car came with a warranty however the warranty company are not picking up all the cost. I must say the garage did not seem particulary bothered when I advised them of the problem and it became quite clear they were not willing to contribute towards any of the cost.

Again, this is most likely coincidence however oyu may want to get an independent mechanic to give it a quick check over?

I'll be taking a friend of mine to really knows his stuff when it comes to VWs with me on Thursday so check it over. I'll try and get some money off.

Talking of warranty, they give a 6 month with the car - any point in taking it up to 2 years?

I didn't bother extending the warranty and following the experience I have had with them recently I am glad I didn't.

My injector needs replacing which they cover but they will not cover the replacement of the wireing loom for the injector. The coverages states all electrical components however when I spoke with them they said they do not cover wiring. When I asked why this was not detailed in their list of exclusions I could not get a straight answer.

Depending on when it was registered the VW warranty may still be in place and I would have thought your best bet would be to extend this if possible?

Hope all goes well on Thursday!

    Hi,

I just purchased a 56 plate 1.9 TDI S Estate. Great car. If you search the forum you will probably find one of my postings where I ask the same question (look for "Buying Passat Estate"). Fuel pump change was probably the main one to check for. As mentioned previously make sure you get the spare key. The car i purchased only came with 1 and I am being quoted £120-£150 to get a new key and to get it programmed to my car!

    Cheers

    A

Cheers for all the help so far guys!

My friend gave the car the all clear on Thursday so I'm just sorting out the finance now.

The car is currently at 60K, which I believe is about time for a Cambelt change. I wonder if anyone can point me at the servicing schedule for this car?
