    Hi Guys,

Does anybody have any experience of the dual mass flywheels by SACHS and LUK?
They seem quite cheap( 350) for this particular component considering a new DMF is roughly 900 from VW direct

Would love to know if these are a genuine bargin or just asking for trouble when they clock up a bit of mileage...

    Cheers,

    Gerry

I will shorlty be having a new flywheel which will be the LUX one, understand that Lux make them for VW. The cost for clutch and flywheel replacement on my Bora will be £600.

gbrad, what engine and year is your Bora? The VAG DMF’s are about £500 each but the Sachs and LUK supplied units are exactly the same as you would buy from VAG except they are quite a lot cheaper but do not have the two year VAG dealer covered parts and labour warranty. When yours comes out, it will probably be LUK already and some would say as LUK DMF’s seem to go wrong so often as original equipment, Sachs may be better. I quite happily fit either in the workshop; my own car has an LUK set in it. We did an S3 last week and we fitted a full LUK system but we would have fitted Sachs if they had been in stock in the UK. Personally I prefer Sachs as years ago I used to experience problems with LUK but not anymore and I suppose having a direct account with Sachs UK encourages me to use them.

Hi Steve,Shes the 1.9tdi 130 (ASZ) with the o2m gearbox. It would be Janruary 2002 to be exact... Recently Im getting knocks at idle when cold, not bad mind but Im told it will get worse. When I press the clutch the knocking stops

My clutch isnt slipping and power is great .So Im basically just weighing up options for down the road when the knocking gets too annoying to bear

So VW charge that bit more due to the warranty cover for 2 years... Thats interesting but then again chances are they wont stand over this if the car has been remapped which is what I plan to do when I get the trans sorted( uprated sachs clutch and dmf from sachs )
At least now I know who Ill be giving the business to providing the price is right
    Thanks for the advise mate

    Gerry

The flywheel for an ASZ is 038 105 266 AG and the last price I have for that was £460 inc. VAT but I think they may have gone down in price but I am not sure. I would not be unhappy with Sachs or LUK so whichever is the best price. Yes, re-mapping kills the warranty dead and that includes Sachs and LUK, if one fails they ask a lot of questions.
