16v starting

got a 16v golf hasn't been started for 15 years done a little overhaul just incase anything was siezeed, not the car sparks and turns over but i dont think im getting fuel n the fuel pmp makes no noise when ignition is turned now i havent had a 16v before and it looks like its manual fuel injected should i be able to hear the pump whine when pumping fuel through??

You should hear a buzzing noise coming from the fuel pump when you first turn the key as it primes the main fuel pump before you start the car.

Could be that the lift pump in the fuel tank and/or the main fuel pump has gone and needs replaced.

Hi had the same problem with my gti it was siting around for years all i had to do was take of the fuel pump then reverst it to loosen it up from being sut around for so long remembar to put it back the (right way ) after that the injectors wornt frowing no fuel out so all i done was to dismantal the injection unit and then put it back togeather again and all works well give it a try good luck
