So many questions about Passat gearboxes!!!

Anyone know the difference between FHN and GGB boxes, or in fact any of the Passat boxes? Think I may have to replace a GGB box on one of my passats. Are FHN and GGB interchangeable???

    Thanks in advance

    Dave

Both gearboxs are used with the 1.9 lt turbo diesel. The FHN box was produced from 2000 til 2003 and the GGB was produced from 06.2003.They have the same final drive ratio.

    Ah great, cheers for that.

Explains why my '52 and '04 TDI SE's have different boxs' then!!

The GGB has gone bang me thinks, will have to see on closer inspection but does not like 3rd and 4th as the stick slops about when engaged...
