Hi i have been looking for an in dash sat nav for my Passat Sport, would love an MFD2 or the MFD3 but funds dont permit spending so much.
So i have been looking for cheaper alternatives and have come across this on ebay "
7" car DVD GPS VW PASSAT GOLF TOURAN TIGUAN CADDY EOS"

was wondering has anybody tried one and if so any good. (the company selling the one i was looking at is "A-Sure Professional navigation", has anybody any good or bad reports about them.
Or can anybody suggest any alternatives ?....

I've thought about doing this as well.

My main concern over using something like this would be "if it breaks" and how to return it, UK disks or navigation and routing the GPS aerial - I'd be intrigued to see what you end up with though.

I thought about them as well, I'm convinced you will get what you pay for with these. There have been several postings in the forum over time, but I don't think anyone has plucked up enough courage to buy one!
Might be worth looking on Youtube to try and find a review of one on there

It does look good for the price, maybe too good.

I would also be concerned with the 'if it breaks' problem.

They've only been selling a year and haven't got a lot of feedback, not that bad though.

    Could be worth a punt.

Reading the specs its a Windows CE device, so uses PDA software. I think Route 66 is the only software now for PDA's...TomTom don't do PDA software anymore so the newer maps won't work etc.

It looks good. but at £350 which you can get an MFD2 DVD.

    Hi,

I bought one from Ebay. the seller was located in China. In total it cost me £250 for the unit and it arrived within 3 days via TNT.
It plays DVDs / Divx / MP3 / IPOD / USB, has a TV and bluetooth.

The GPS is good, not good as TOM TOM, but does postcode. It uses a 2GB SD card located at the bottom of the unit. I may try TOM TOM (which I think is superior) at a later date.

The GPS receiver I routed in to the rear hi def brake light. Good steady signal.

I am not worried about the TV, bought it mainly for the GPS / Bluetooth, but I do recommend you buy one which has RDS for its radio.

In all good money spent, looks good in the car.
