    Hi all,

I have a 2006 estate 140 S model. I am looking to fit a 12v power socket in the boot area. I believe that some higher spec. models may have one already fitted???
Any good ideas of where I can find a 12v supply from in the boot area for my socket?

    Thanks

Originally the power to the 12v supply socket, runs from the fuse box, without doing that,I think the nearest supply, would be the rear cig lighter.

You may not have the rear cigarette lighter either. In which case you need to find which fusebox runs your front cigarette lighter. Locate the fuse. It will be powered by a busbar which you can see behind the fuse box where a thick wire goes in. You then need a fuse box repair lead with terminal (15A). You extend this wire to the rear of the car and add your power supply socket. Good luck.

I put one in my bora took out the boot lining and founf the wiring loom was already prepared just had to buy the socket & cut the hole in the lining took 1/2 hr and cost me £6.

So worth taking a look. the boot 12v socket is on the o/s sort of under the fuel filler if you get my meaning.

My B5 SE has two sockets in the boot as well as the two cigarette lighter sockets in the cabin.

I was miffed to find that my B6 'S' has no socket in the boot, no socket for the rear seat passengers and the one in the front needs the ignition on!

Yes I found much to my disgust no socket in the boot of my S estate.

Fitted one myself, it wasn't an easy job as I couldn't remove the luggage area side panel and the VAG socket the dealer sold me was too long so it had to be 'codged'.

Dealer wanted an arm and a leg to fit one. But he did give me the repair lead FOC - a VAG only item - to connect in to the back of the driver's side fuse box.

I wired it so it was permenantly live, unlike the cigar lighter in the front.

Best of luck, it took me ages. Getting the wire so it was hidden and hence protected, from the fuse box to socket was a s*d as well. Especially from the B post to the socket.

I was hoping that as it is a standard fit on higher spec. cars, that the wiring loom would be standard to all models and the wires for the rear 12v socket would be in the boot somewhere stowed?

It doesn't work like that with the B6. If it wasn't on the options you don't get it or the wires.

I believe the SE model onwards would have the boot and rear passenger single 12v socket fitted as standard. (for the B6 anyway)
