Got an audi 80 1.9 tdi 94 plate and i have bought a chip from ebay that i wanna give a go. Directions are to attach it to the IAT or the coolant sensor but I dont know what exactly im looking for. Ive only just got this in the post and am yet to look under the bonnet but as you cant get a manual for these beasts im not sure what iam looking for. There are instructions but they are general for different types of makes and models so it is generalised a bit.
Help me Obi wan Konobi, help me :O)

since crasher seems reluctant to help you(for very good reason) fit this very clever device that makes your car believe the outside temperature is 10 degrees colder than it really is, thus making your car overfuel and causing all sorts of grief and expense further down the line, which is good considering it consists of a 2.5 pence resistor from maplins, i will help you. please dont fit it, just send it back or destroy it. in fact do anything you like with it, but for the love of god dont fit it to your car. these devices are making someone very rich at the expense of gullible individuals such as yourself, who look on ebay and just cant resist an extra 20 bhp for just £24.99. if you look into this forum, you will find that these devices have been talked about quite a lot, as someone asks about them about once a week. you can get more power out of your car, but not by using this device that you have been conned into buying. sorry,.

Thanks for the advice, I know it seems a bit gullible but I just cant help my curiosity. It was only £6 with postage so Im not wasting too much. I also know that even at this price these individuals still make a great profit ( and at over 20k sales on ebay that really is making a couple of quid). Still... I would like to give it go, but before I do, would you give it go for even just 30 miles, I mean what kind of damage could it do in this short amount of time??
If nothing else at least it is omething I could warn others about. I have read a few of the discussions on here and I am aware of the possible outcomes, but I would also like to know what kind of damage I could cause and what to do if I notice something... am I making sense?

yep, that makes sense. a lot of people think that these devices will transform their lives, and are really upset when they dont work. it would be worth trying for a few miles and shouldnt really do any harm short term, but it may trigger a fault with the ecu, so if you dont have vag com or similar, then it would be worth finding someone that does have, before trying it. unfortunately i dont have a wiring diagram for the 1z engine. i dont think they have a IAT sensor, so you will probably be best going into the cts.
