Last weekend I had an oil sensor warning come up in conjunction with the outside temperature read out going haywire. The heating/climate control system also packed up.

This lot all runs through fuse no 5 which was blown. I replaced today and fuse has blown again, but not instantly. I think it went after trying the climate control.

I'm rubbish with car electrics. Would this be a vag-com job to see if any fault code comes up relating to the fan flap sticking, or more likely a short somewhere?

The nearside headlamp is also not working, however, I think this runs another circuit and is perhaps just coincidence that the bulb has blown?

First thing to check is the A/C compressor pressure regulating valve on the compressor body. The cable going to this may be chaffing and shorting out, I had one of these a few months ago. Regards Peter

    1.9tdi AWX 2003 and yes it's 10amp.

I'll check that suggested cabling first and report back shortly.

Also check the cabling to the HP A/C switch. This may heve been disturbed the last time you changed the timing belt. Regards Peter

I'm no further forward with this yet.

Had a garage take a quick look this week - they popped in a 15amp fuse, but that blew after the climate control system kicked in. They suggested trying a 20 amp next time! Their diagnostic gear wouldn't communicate with the air con ECU - not sure what this points to yet....but it wouldn't comm with it if the fuse is blown anyway would it?

I suppose put a 20 amp fuse is a good idea so you can identify what is wrong as that is where the fire will start. Dumb Idea. When you say it blew when the climate control kicked in, do you mean that the A/C powered up OK but but when you selected non econ i.e. cooling on, then the fuse blew. If so then I suspect the regulator on the compressor body as I said previuosly. Regards Peter
