    HI,

I've just had the car lowered. I've noticed one or two things.

    1) the front sits lower than the back?

    2) the front strut tops now have a gap of about 10mm when the car is sitting.

Its a the koni strt kit,

    any ideas?

the front stut mounts bearings etc where all recently repalced. I can post pics if anyone wants to see.

If you've just put new suspension onto your car, and the suspension is stiffer and newer than your old suspension, then the springs will need to bed them selfs in and settle. The engine is up front so you can expect the weight of that to load the springs, whereas the back has little weight, so you will need to cart around lots of fat people and carry all of their sausages and cake in the boot for a few thousand miles, then things may even out a bit.

I think the only way you will get things dead even is fit coilovers. Many different manufacturer's have different spring rates. The 'euro' look is to have the front a bit lower than the back for an aggressive stance, and seeing as many aftermarket vw/audi goods are made in europe, it stands to reason that its the look they were kinda going for. My H&R's seem a tiny bit lower on the front than the back, but i dont think its worth swapping them for coilovers just yet. Different wheels sizes give a different appearance also (bigger wheels seem to look more even than smaller wheels as they fill the arches a bit better)

Your front topmounts would be in a different position as the permanent strut angle is slightly different. They may well be so accustomed to the old strut angle that they seem to have a gap. I'm not totally sure where your gap's are from your description, but you can get top mounts with bearings in, so whatever angle your struts are, they will have a decent connection the chassis leg. They improve handling also, as they give a more accurate track over bumps and round corners, they're expensive though, into the £hundreds if i remember correctly. Id try new rubber top mounts first.

Thank you. I was thinking of changing the top mounts to new ones so will give that a try.

    Thanks for replying.
