    Hi,

I have a 2006 Polo 1.4 Sport FSI, bought it a few weeks ago with just 7.5k on the clock and in pretty good condition - I love the car, but it really is a squeaky car with lots of dash rattle, some wierd creaking noise coming from the back, and worst of all some bad wind noise/whistle that seems to be coming from around the nearside front door. I know this isn't unique to 3-door 9n Polos because I had a courtesy car from the garage for a while ... not that this helps me much!

I really can't locate where the problem is. Searching the forum, it appears that doors are adjustable at the striker plate (my TT was the same), but I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem with a 3-door 9n.

    Grateful for any feedback

    RM

Well, took the car to the local VW dealers in Harrogate yesterday to get a new starter motor fitted (under warranty) and I asked if wind noise is a common complaint with three-door 9n polos ...... the senior mechanic told me apparently not, yet there is a very definite howling around the nearside door at anything over 50mph. I'm stumped at where to start .... does anyone know if the doors are adjustable in terms of fit?

I found wind noise coming from the nearside front door on my 2002 1.4 9n - had a closer look and the lower hinge was loose! Used a Torx style socket to tighten up the hinge after aligning the door. The wind noise is now same as the offside, i.e. negligible.
