Hi all, these seem to be reasonably priced but are they a good alround tyre. I'm currently using Goodyear eagle F1 on my B5.5 passat 1.8t sport but need to replace the fronts soon.

    Many thanks

    Hi M8

I had four FK 452's fitted to my Bora TDI Sport, found them to be a good tyre, front tyres last 10k, but I did have the TDI remaped to 185bhp and did tend to use torque quite a bit.

    As i recall I paid £60 a corner, 225/40/18.

In my opinion a good tyre

    Andy

Andy I totally agree with you, they are a grat tyre. 60 quid a corner isnt bad for 18s. Im using 225/40/ZR18 too, and I drive a 2006 Passat 1.9TDi

TBH I need new tyres just now on my newly acquired Passat,

I want to get ( in the very near future) a set a 18" Chicago alloys, but for the time being, due to my best m8 getting married (I'm the best man) and saving for a Florida holiday I'm just going to get some cheap new tyres to keep me legal.

I've been offered 4 X Admiral 235/45/17 94Y for £44.00 a corner, I know they are budget tyres, just need to get cheap tyres, the rear are have suffered from the dreaded " Saw Tooth" effect getting bored with VW constant " not interested " attitude.

Anybody got experience of having fitted Admiral tyres ??

bottom of the ladder in the ratings all they have going for them is they are cheap and new, they are ok as long as you dont compare them to established companies who spend a lot on R&D

I agree with sortsorter, Admiral are pretty low, if you're after something cheaper than premium, have you thought about Khumo or Hankook? These brands will be challeging "the big 6" manufacturers in the near future.
Another thought would be part worns? Plenty of places selling them and a good stop gap for keeping legal

I have Falken 452s on the front and find them fine - much better than the Fullruns that the dealer put on the back when I bought it. If it didn't seem like a waste of money I'd throw them and put 2 more Falkens on, but at ~£100 a pop for the Falkens (235/35/19) I am going to hold off a while...

I'd be interested to hear how you find the Accelera tyres. I looked into buying some new rims recently but was put off by the tendency of many companies fitting the rubbish Fullrun tyres to them. One company offered me an "upgrade" to Acceleras for £50, but when I looked them up on the web I found that they are even cheaper than the Fullruns! Now I know, cheaper doesn't have to mean worse quality, but seemed a cheek that I was going to have to pay a premium for them! Still, if they are any good....

I have 4x falken fk452's i bought online - 225/35/19's which i get good grip in wet & dry - and are an excellent all round tyre for the money paid. I will certainly be buying more..

All other tyres seemed to be atlest £30 more expensive, and imho arent as good unless your going to pay through the roof..
