Towing with a Sharan 1.9 TDi

Hi, I am looking to tow a caravan with my Sharan 1.9 TDi 110 Auto, (1998 model) has anyone had any problems or any observations that I need to know about please.

A remap would help, give you a bit more power to tow.

I tow a caravan with my sharan 110 auto 1998 no problems,but put a pair of rear spring assisters on just gives a better ride with van on. My c/van maxes at 1.5 tonnes, nosewieght on tow bar max 85kg but follow advice on tow bar or c/van for nose wieght and USE THE LOWEST, fuel economy suffers but not to bad.if car hunts between 3rd/4th gear put selector in 3rd this will stop g/box oil overheating. happy towing andy

Thanks Andy, interesting tip that about selecting 3rd.
Still havent found the g/box filler yet to check level, maybe VW dont want me to find it, LOL

Thanks Chip n spin, maybe you could tell me, as I am the third owner of this car, is there any way to tell if one of the previous owners has already had it remaped? Can't find a plug in box under the bonnet. Thanks. Dave.
