Hi there: I have a problem with my 04 TDI new beetle going into limp home mode. This has happended previously and was found to be a split pipe on the turbo. This time (2 years later) a different hose on the turbo was found to be disconnected and worn. This was replaced and re-attached.

The car still however occasionally goes into limp home mode when I am cruising at approx 80 mpg at just below 3000 rpm and not when accelerating. The engine check light has also come back on. The system re-sets when the ignition is turned off and on again although the light stays on. The garage suggested that the turbo needed to "re-set itself" but that doesn't sound very convincing.

Before I take it back or to another garage I would be very grateful for any indications. Cheers

    Great site!

Thanks Kite. Will do. The garage said it was over-boosting but they didn't give me the exact code. I will get it re-read.
