Hi all - a really dumb question

How is the luggage compartment light switched on a 1996 Polo? For the life of me I cant find a switch anywhere around the opening. And for the life of me (side lights on etc) I cant work out how VW intended the light to switch on.

If I jumper the -ve connection to earth it lights fine, so the fuse & bulb are fine.

It's built into the boot latch. It's a common failure on Passats not sure if it's the same process for the Polo though.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Cheers.

And just discovered the obvious fault: one of the pins on the boot latch has corroded away. Managed to clean up the (10p) connector, will have to replace the £20 latch!
