    2003 Golf TDi Match.....

When I use the back wiper, annoyingly it does not stop where it should in the horizontal position just above the lower edge of the window.
It always travels a few inches back up the window before stopping!
Everything else works fine, and it is just cosmetic, but as I said slightly annoying.
No point in taking the arm off the spline shaft and re-positioning it, or it is going to go down onto the paintwork on the downward stroke!

Any ideas what the problem is??

    Al.

I would have said pop the arm off the splines and reposition it.
Failing that id be replacing the motor.

Check that the copper pipe that goes threw the motor isnt broken and therefor water leaking into the motor. A common fault with them as the greese dries out and the pipe twists. This then causes electrical faults like as you have mentioned. The motor records the position of the wiper. If it is getting damp it could be confused on where the "park" position is. I had a problem with the water jet not staying straight. I baught a kit from VW/Audi and it came with all new cogs and pipes. It works a treat now. Hope this helps

Lol well you could try drying out the contacts after you have stripped it down...... or you could buy a scrappy motor for £30BUT then you have the problem that occurs when the wiper isnt used for a while like on scrap motors where the copper pipe twists and brakes........ So i would suggest £70-£90 for a new motor....
