I have a 2006 estate S model, and want the cruise control fitted, I have read some of the topics on here about it but I am a bit confused.

Some of you are talking about a 2nd stalk for cruise which needs a new lower cowl, and some about a combined indicator/cruise stalk? which is the case or is there an option.

I have also seen it mentioned that an extra wire may need to be run into the ECU? is this the case? I was under the impression that I could remove my indicator stalk and fit a combined one, then just get the ECU programmed with VAGCOM or similar?

    Help Please

    Many Thanks

On the B6 it's a separate stalk. Lots of info on www.tyresmoke.net. PM Shark_90 if you're in the Midlands and want it retrofitting - he knows his stuff.

The Passat uses another stalk, which is fitted just below the usual left hand indicator stalk. Some VW's, like the Golf, have it on top of the indicator stalk.

Follow the link below for further deatails.

You get a second stalk, below the indicator/lights stalk and a new lower cowl is needed. I think the confusion arises because you get a replacement indicator /lights stalk as well. This is because the old indicator/lights stalk and the switching unit it is attached to are thrown away and replaced by a new combined unit with two stalks and switching for indicators, lights and cruise.

    See my post here.

I think in the current climate the dealers will probably do it for a good price, I've read somewhere on here that it's been done for Ł150.
I have been very pleased with mine & wouldn't be without it.
VWCruise did a good job without messing around at the dealers

The ECU has to be opened and new wire attached & fed through to the new stalk, like me, your wiper lever will need to be taken from the old stalk unit (Rear wash) & fitted to the new unit as part is for saloon.

Ps tried to flog the old unit & cowl on ebay but no takers, guess it will be in demand in a few years.
