Engine code required. It is on the ID label in the service book and or in the spare wheel bay. Regards Peter

I do not have that engine listed but I suspect this may be a variable flap inlet manifold problem. Crasher should be alond shortly. You could PM him with the problem and your details. Regards Peter

Could be manifold flap, EGR valve or even a camshaft issue, very difficult to say without listening to it.

where is the manifold flap . has it got a black cover over it is it bolted next to the MAF. that is where the clickink is coming from and if it is the flap would you lose power still and i noticed the the emission control light has come on . when i disconnected the MAF cable it seemed to work all right I drove it to work and there was no noise any idea and again thanks for helping

Post a pic of the part.

You need a fault code read doing but now you have disconnected the AMM you WILL have a stored fault code and will not know if it is true. I keep saying this but will say it again, DO NOT DISCONNECT THE AIR MASS METER!
