    think there is another similar thread to this which identified the problem being the tyres

    I had the same issue on my 2.5 TDi Quatrro Sport but the noise was from the rear ( it can be difficult to isolate where it comes from). The rear diff was weeping oil, so I had the garage top it up and hey presto, cured.
