    Hi, I have a VW Caravelle T4 -91 with AAC-engine (2.0L gasoline).

Since I bought this car, the fuel- and the temperature gauges has been broken. But now I decided to try to fix it.
As far as I've heard, this is a quite usuall problem on the older VW:s, so I wonder if someone here have any hints for me?

I've taken the dash out and disambled the "fuel and temp-frame" from the electric card. I also tried the gauges by putting cables from a 6V-battery directly on the connectors, and then both gauges move...

So, if someone knows anything about this, please tell me.

Sorry for my english, I am a stupid Swede...

Take a look at this post from the forum t4 fuel and temp gauge not working
The second post has what looks like a good guide to the problem.

Dry joint on the back of the gauges or the voltage stableizer, just need to resolder the conections. Its hard to see sometimes but resoldering them works!

I've the same prob with the temp gauge in my T4 Transporter however it does occasionally work for very short periods of time. It is obviously a break in a connection somewhere along the line and it seems as if the instructions above could be the solution however they state that they apply to pre '96 analogue models. Mine is a '99/00 and fitted with the digital instruments.
Does anyone know if the same problem is common & if the same solution works on the later machines??

    Thanks All....

Sorry dont know about the later ones but sounds like it could still be the voltage stableizer soldering, normally looks like a small black transitor type thing with 3 connectons.

Nice One Scrotum Head, it does sound similar though. I'll have a look at over the next week in the hope it is.
