Hi, I recently took golf gt tdi 115 in for a diagnostic, mainly for an airbag and abs fault warning. Apparently, the things had a bump at some point, which is worrisome, but more so is the abs fault warning. Apparently some *@$* disconnected the abs warning light behind the dash, so im presuming bad news here. Anyway, the codes i was given read like a novel, and i'm not sure if they are in a decipherable format, but if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

    SMARTBOX: 980242647900
    CODE:001
00532 supply voltage sporadic: signal too low

    CODE:002
01217 Side airbag igniter d/side - N199 - sporadic: value of resistance too great

    CODE: 003
    00595 crash data

    CODE:004
01214 crash data seat belt tensioner stored

    CODE:005
00588 Airbag igniter-sporadic: driver side-n95 - sporadic: value of resistance too great

    CODE:006
00589 igniter 1 for passenger airbag N131 - sporadic: value of resistance too great

    CODE:007
00654 Belt tensioner igniter d/side N153 short circuit to earth

    CODE:008
00655 Belt tensioner igniter p/side N154 short circuit to earth

    CODE:009
01218 Side airbag igniter p/side - N200 - sporadic: value of resistance too great

    CODE:010
00589 igniter 1 for passenger airbag N131 - sporadic: short circuit to earth

    ------------------
    CODE:001
00562 oil level temp sender G266 - sporadic: open short circuit to positive

    CODE:002
01176 key sporadic signal too low

    ------------------
    CODE:001
01276 ABS hydraulic pump-v64, - sporadic: signal out of tolerance

Thats most of the pitiful list. I'm just hoping theres going to be a scrappage scheme, so i can watch this hideous lump being destroyed while i stroke my £2000 cheque. Wishful thinking, but once again, if any could help, it'd be really appreciated.

If all those air bag codes return after being cleared, you have a lot of parts to replace which you will have to find used due to their cost.

The oil level sender may just need a new sender, ignore the key fault for now and I am afraid you may also need to track down an ABS pump.

Thanks for the heads up guys, much appreciated. I kind of feared the worst anyway when i saw that till roll, just as well this forum exists and I know that i'm not the only one with car issues, which provides some belated comfort (as well as the well informed advice of the residents here).

I know this is all take and no give from me, but i've got another question. The car is a V reg (2000) GT TDI 115 with 6 speed gearbox. Given that I'm obviously going to have to embark on a crash course in car maintenance over the coming weeks/ months, I've been looking for a haynes manual for this particular model. Trouble is, i've been told the engine is a PD, and i cant find the manual for a PD of that year. The engine number starts AJM. Does that mean i have to buy the blue one or the green one

Anyways, thanks for the help so far people.

To my knowledge there isnt much difference so if your only completeing routine maintenance and work on the listed fault codes then the normal manual would suffice just remember you need specific oil for those engines ask VW what standard it has to be think it is 503. I had a 2001 golf 90bhp tdi and just used the normal manual. for 4 cylinder engines 1998 onwards. Get advise furthyer than me though to be sure that there isnt another manual but i dont think there is

    Hi

I have the exact same fault code and reading on my ABS pump as you. Local garage tried cleaning sensors but didnt work and I got tired of him trying different things and not knowing what the fault was.

I eventually gave it to a VW mechanic (friend of a friend) who took it to a specialist. They said it could be a number of causes and the only way to find out the fault is to carry out a full investigation. Turns out I need to replace the whole ABS pump which is very costly, almost more than the car is worth: approx £1000+VAT for parts alone.

Good luck with yours. I would be interested in the result of your investigations and repairs on this if you decide to do it. Beware VW garage will charge you a bomb for diagnostic and investigations. Find a reputable specialist.
