Once my parts issue gets sorted out hopefully this week, my next project is to upgrade the front seats for cruising 1hr plus one way to work and back.
So I want the most comfortable seats on the planet.....the Porsche 944 small bolster seats, not the high side racing seats which don't work so well for a 6'4 200lb feller like me.
Scirocco guys have been doing it, and Mk2 guys have done it, corado guys can swap it, so why not the Vento/Jetta Mk3 crowd?
Anyone know the particulars to this swap?
I'm basically getting a mint set for free from a friend complete with power and wiring harness and relays.
Thinking of swapping the steering wheel if I can get away with it while I'm at it and replacing the ignition switch.
Is this a bolt to the old seat frame type of swap, or is it more of a cut and paste with a welder type swap?
Others have had luck with drilling 4 holes, using grade 8 or 12 hardware and supporting with a 2X4 under the 944 seat rails for proper seat height.
I don't know about how well that would work in a Mk3 though.
Ideas?
So far google search, and several other VW sites worth of searching has failed me to find an exact recipe for success.
If there is not a DIY out there somewhere, then if not and it is able to be pulled off I will post one up. If it fails, then I will report back with my abject failure if it doesn't work and I will just settle in to converting them into bar stools like my friend did and I will post up a DIY for that as well.....

(he is running a 12V power inverter and rocking full power on his bar stools

When next I get back stateside I will post up some pics.
