    Hi,

I've just replaced the original VW Radio - Cassette in my Mk4 Golf with a Sony CD player and I'm getting lovely sound from the front set of speakers in the car, the two in the doors and the two tweeters in the wing mirror housing are working a treat. There looks as if there is another set in the rear doors, next to the opening catch where the window controls are. I can't hear a thing coming from them and can't remember if sound came from them before.
A relative has a Mk4 Golf estate that has the same rear speakers and a Kenwood head unit that I think produces no sound either.
The new head unit I have is only 4 channel so it's altogether possible that the rear speakers if that it what they are, are simply wired incorrectly in the blocks for the new head unit. I'd happily sacrifice the wing mirror tweeters if it meant my rear passengers could hear it better (usually the missus and my son).
Has anyone any advice or a wiring schematic to swap these two around at all?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Out of your 4 channels from the head unit, what is it 4x50? Im assuming 2 channels are being used..L and R, and both are going into a crossover which is splitting the signal 2 ways between the low and high drivers (lows, low-mids, high-mids to the doors and Highs to the tweeters), therefore you should have 2 more channels which should head to the back speakers suggesting its not wired correctly at the head unit

    mmmm, cheers for that.
It looks like I'll have to have a bit of a tinker with the wiring then.
I'll also check to see if the head unit has a front back or low mid balance option to see what might be going on.

Yeah I was thinking you wouldnt want to disconnect the tweeters cause your speakers in the front are reference so the ones in the door won't give you full range! They'll just have lows, low-mids, and high-mids

Hey, just to give you a heads up. I figured out that the rear tweets are wired to the parking sensors the previous owners had fitted.
    Problem solved.
    Thanks for your help.
