hi, we have just bought a 56 plate A3 special edition, we pick it up on Thursday. pleased with the car, except for the alloy wheels look more like wheel trims!! a mate at work bought some replica 18" rs6 (the s-line style) alloys for his a4 and they look spot on, his has got the sports suspension. Obviously ours hasnt got the sports suspension so will these wheels look completely stupid fitted to an A3 without the sports suspension? has anyone got a picture of an new shape a3 with 18" alloys fitted on standard suspension so i can get an idea of what it will look like?

    Cheers

    Darlo

    Hi

The sports suspension lowers the car by 15mm so i'm sure it will look just great.

Also to get an idea of what it looks like - use Audi's uk website to configure the model you have and the colour you have.

It will show you a front nearside view and a rear offside view.

    cheers,

i have found these on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-A4-AUDI-SPO...QQcmdZViewItem they are on 17" but i think they will look better with the standard suspension. 18's will make the car sit too high i think

It would not matter if you had 15", 16", 17" or 18" alloys if you stick to the correct tyre profile.

The height of the whole wheel would be the same so the car will not sit any higher.

17" with 45's would be the same height as 18" with 40's

cheers, thats what i was after. they have recommended 225/45 tyres. i will wait until we pick it up on thursday and see what tyres are on it and make my final decision. tempted to go for the 17's for a less firm ride. got my car for that!

Physically it wont sit any higher, but visually it look more like a 4x4 the bigger you go.

The obvious reason is the shrinkage of the sidewall as you increase the wheel.

Just look at any standard car riding on 20" wheels and stock suspension to see what I mean.
