Once I get abck to the Uk I'll be treating the A6 to a good claying and scrubbing. Before the new car 'glow' wears off I usually go to the effort of taking off the wheels and getting them cleaned up and waxed, giving the arches and calipers a good clean up at the same time.

Just wondering how many others get their wheels off for a good detailing session, and how often?

I must admit with the 2 yr. old lad vying for attention the marathon car detailing sessions went out the window on my old car, trying to reinstate it with the new one but we'll see how it goes!

Yeah, twice a year sounds about right, though admittedly now I'd be lucky to get it once a year unless I can get my lad trained up to turn a wrench!

Do you just normally put the same wax as is used on the car on the alloys or have you a 'special' product?

I use poorboys wheel sealant - 2 or 3 coats.

    Hi there,
I tend to get my wheels off around twice a year and thoroughly clean them front n back. While I have them off I usually repaint / touch up the calipers n hubs too to give a really nice factory fresh look as the hubs in particular get rusty n grimy and generally horrible.

I remember seeing that thread before, some great looking hubs! Don't know if I'll be doing the same myself, the wheels I have are more spoke than gap, plus being the only car we have it's tough fitting in the time to do it what with all the 'Jack in the box', swimming and numerous other activities jnr. gets right now.

You never know though, now the idea's there will I be able to resist!
