Some people loosen the bolts just mm or 2mm so that the wheel is still supported on the spigot and then drive 100 yards on uk potholed roads! When refitting the wheel, clean the mating surfaces and smear a very thin smear of coppaslip or grease and then rub it off with a rag so that only a thing greasy film remains.

runs 'ate' front calipers, had rears done a few months back. going in friday to have them done anyway, had mot today and failed on front discs and pads, one bulb which ive just done and headlamps are set too low even after using internal adjustment, bulbs are fine and in the right way etc. gonna sort them out when it goes dark just need test distance off mot site. oh brake flexi pipes need replacing too.

garage is doing discs, pads (ive bought them) and they are getting flexi brake pipes 30 quid and including labour will be 115 quid, need it doing and got enough stuff to be getting on with like finding a job

have been looking into 312 conversion seems worth while if front ones need replacing

my beaten up bmw 1990 325i failed on a misaligned headlamp when i had it, thats it!!! that was due to crappy threaded rod type headlamp adjusters, they just seized up. just put a flat washer behid one side to level it up. my pug used to be 400 quid a year to put through, it ate bushes every 12 months and rear brakes and handbrake cables were a yearly thing.

got advisery for suspension bushes on both front susp arms, but i checkes those and they arent even border line, look perfect to my untrained eye

Good luck, but what did it fail on? The MOT doesn't check brake disc and pads. All they check is brake efficiency and they usually work fine for this test until down to the metal.

failed on pad level, below 1.5mm, discs have big lip on them, brake pipe flexis deteriorated, doesnt say about efficiency at all i dont think, all info is in the car an im in bed did headlamps last night, will prob take allen key with me and set them there if they need adjusting again. i know brakes are knackered but still work, dont even fade, squeak now an then but still work fully
