Passat B6 door not locking

I have a Passat 170 Sport 08 plate, due to my neighbours crappy driving

he reversed into my rear passenger door, i have had to get a new rear door sprayed and put on the car (which he paid for of course

) the door was sprayed and installed perfectly, as the car is black the paint job was all blended in with out any faults.

But i have a problem

when i lock the doors the new door stays open??? it won't lock, even though rest of the doors are locked. The light on the dashboard stays on highlighting the door is open, even when the car is started and all doors, boot, bonnet closed.

From the drivers door i can open all the door windows except the window of the new door. if you try opening the window by pressing the button on the new door itslef it opens so its got power to it..

Do i need to re-synchronise the keys or let the car know its got a new door fitted by using teh VAG-Com thing...

any ideas.. thanks in advance.

It sounds like the ccm module has lost contact with the door modual in the door. Vag-com will tell you or you can look inside the door to see if a wire has been left off. If the communications wire is off, you loose functions even if you have power.

Just spoken to the guy who sorted out my airbag light, he told me to take off the locking mechanism off the old door and fit that to the new door and it should work.

does that sound right??

Did you leave the original door control module in the old door. You must use the original control module for your car or it won't work. A different control module would need coding in.

Yes Martin, the old module is not fitted to the new door, how easy is it to put the old module into the new door? or is it easier to code in the new module? would a VAG-com to the trick?

It's probably easier to code the new one with vag-com BUT if it's not the right module you may have problems because of that it might be simpler to just swap them.
