    Hi,

    I have a 95 Mk3 with manual windows.

Back in the cold spell I tried to force the window open and broke something that stopped the window from opening. I assumed it would be the glass coming out of the clamp but I've now removed the inner trim and think it's something else.

I think it's where cable that pulls the window down should be anchored. There's a cable run that if I hold taught at the bottom of the as I turn the winder, the window opens. I think the pulley should be held in place with a clip but it's not easy to see what it should look like. The Haynes manual doesn't seem very clear about it.
I've attached some images below. I found a small bit of blue plastic in the base of the door frame which I think must have broken off.
The problem is I don't see how the bit of plastic is supposed to be held in place, again it doesn't seem to be covered very well in Haynes.

Are these bits easy to find as spares/from breakers yards? To replace it will I have to remove the window pane?

    Thanks for any tips

Take the panel off the opposite door and see how it works in that one, if that one is working. I assume you only broke the driver's door winder.

Yes I thought of that but was hoping to leave it as a last resort. The problem is removing the trim is quite destructive as you have to pull out a lot of panel retaining clips from the door frame that look like they have been badly frayed in the process, and the insulation panel you have to pull away doesn't look like it appreciates being removed either.
