I thought i would post to say what i like and what i am not so keen on with my car. I thought this might be interesting for A4 owners so that we can see if we al have the same likes/dislikes about our cars.

    2001 A4 Avant SE 115PD Silver

    Likes:
    Excellent build quality.
    Nice interior.
Feels v.safe, 4 airbags, abs, strong bodyshell.
    Good stereo.
Nice standard equipment, i.e cd changer & climate.
    Adequate space for small family.
    Good economy.
    Adequate ride.
Nice, quiet and relaxing to drive long distances.

    Dislikes:
Handling only adequate, poor turn-in, doesn't like to be pushed.
    Notchy gearchange, particularly when cold.
Lacks some power (i know a chip would help).
Unable to see all dials when steering wheel set at correct angle.
Heavy doors - the wife doesn't like.

Overall i am a very happy A4 owner and i would give my car 9 out of 10. Anyone else willing to let us know what they think about their chariots?

    Cheers, Wid77

    I have a B6 A4..

    I like every apart from..

The climate control and radio buttons... over time the colour has started to wear,

    ie..

Radio... resets are starting to turn white as the paint coasting is coming off...

Climate control... The drivers side + & - are going a bit read and blue..

    Thats it...

Oh, one other thing i don't like is the 'grabby' brakes. Quite difficult to come to a smooth stop.

Do other owners have the same likes/dislikes as me? Do you love everything about your cars or are there things you would change if you could? It would be interesting to know what you all think.

    Cheers.

I have just bought a 2002 audi A4 and i really like it (coming form a facelift MG ZR) The gear change is abit difficult when cold and i think the clutch is on the way out as uder hard excelleration, the power isnt delivered smoothly.

Thanks for your comments folks. It seems that people generally like and dislike the same things about their cars. I'm surprised thought that Audi made the gearchange awkward from cold. I'm not sure their are many other manufacturers who have this problem? I sometimes find myself going from 1st to 3rd just to reduce the number of gearchanges.

I have heard that it's mainly the 6 speed gear boxes that are notchy. The 5s are not so bad apparantly.

I would rather have a notchy 6 speeder than a smooth 5 speeder though.

I'm glad you raised this thread! I'm in agreement with all. I thought it was just my car that had the notchy change when cold. It's a pig when pulling out of juntions in a morning. A slicker change from 1st to 2nd would be nice!!!

I did think of swapping the transmission oil at the 120k main service mark to try and improve the change but that seems to be a bit of a minefield judging by some of the other posts I have (briefly) read through.
