18 sport non start when warm

hi, ive just bought my first a3,an 18 sport 96 model.
ive had it a few weeks,done 300 miles or so with no problems.yesterday the car cut out after 30 mins driving.i went back to it with a spark plug n some tools to check for the obvious and the car fired up.it only does it when t at normal running temp.theres no loss of power or any other symptoms.

You need a fault code read,which may indicate a faulty engine speed sensor.

im going to get them checked 2moro.
i mnaged to bring the fault on again tonite,the fuel pumps working but theres no spark,
ive heard the coils are prone to failing?
would i lose the spark if the speed sensors at fault?

Yes the engine will stop if there is a fault with G28 the engine speed sender.One of the setbacks is it's not always it shows up on a fault diagnosis.Faulty coils are more prone to the engine not starting.

fitted a new crank sensor today.
now all okay,running like dream,
there goes another 80 qid,ha
