Hi all, could someone offer some guidance on a system i would like in a T5 transporter. I would like this unit but it seems a little out of my price range. I can get the MFD2 cheaper such as this unit Im just not sure that it plays DVDs is it also a touchscreeen?

Would i have to purchase new looms or woud it be a case of plug and play?

Just one more question could i run a VGA or similar from an onboard laptop to the monitor with either of these items?

    Many Thanks
    Al

The RNS510 is the right one, however you can get these for alot less (i would say about £600 - £700) try www.ebay.de the other one is not right its the Golf / Passat / Touran one, you need the Toureg / T5 Model, you need the square cornered one not the round cornered one.

    RNS 510 - touch screen

    MFD2 - not touch screen

Both should be plug and play, both will play DVD's and i would think that you can use an external video source on both with an adaptor of some sort. You can also add a digital TV tuner to them to watch ERM........TV!

If you dont need the SAT nav then also try the RCD 510 this is similar to RNS510 but with no sat nav (possibly no VDV player either)

Cheers mate thats a great help - so i guess this the one im after? looks like an older version of the RSN510....One seller/fitter has informed me i need to buy a £180 `flat`loom from VW to fit the RSN 510 and it will be a further £2-300 to fit. Im going to contact local VW garage tommorrow to see what they will charge to fit if i supply.

    Thanks
    Alec
