I know the clocks have 3 settings for the average mpg 2 user settings and 1 what i belive to be an average

the 2 user settings that are used for single journeys seem to work fine getting an average of 44 mpg

but the other setting were the display doesnt show a 1 or 2
what i believe to be an overall consumption is completely erratic
the fuel consumption fluctuates from anything between -- and 199 mpg continuosly changing every few seconds to anywhere in between the numbers above

    is this normal ??

tried reading it up in the owners manual but dont make sense

There should be three mpg indicators; one that adjusts immediately to how far the accelerator pedal is pressed' one that gives you an average for your current journey (option 1) and one for a longer average (option 2).

    Yep, it's normal.
The instant MPG readout fluctuates depending on throttle and speed. 199 is the maximum, -- means infinite (the car is coasting and not using fuel), and the other readings are just what they are. This reading is not particularly useful apart from learning how to drive for the best MPG. When you pay attention to it, you will be amazed at how much difference a small change in throttle will make! Get to know your car and it will treat you well.
