How badly is this silly idea goin to affect Audis? since i've been here (bout a week) everyone given me so much advice on what i'm looking for, but unfortunately my bank balance isn't as large as i'd like it to be and massive taxes might mean I have to scrap the idea of buying one

Dont worry about it... The cars you have been looking at your max tax is going to be £200 year ish with a A4.. just think of it like i do... well i will just have to put 3 less tanks of petrol in over the year... problem solved..

£200 sounds a lot of cash.. its only £16 a month.. because i do so many miles it does not affect me and there has been so many time i have just burnt fuel for no reason..

Dont worry about it and get one bought!!! you only live once... !!

Its the road pricing you have to worry about!! lol

    Agree with Rick.

It is the road pricing you need to worry about, because that may effect even the environment concious people in their little cars.

The road tax hike announced in the budget will mostly affect cars in tax band G (Chelsea Tractors registered after March 2006). The link below explains the different bands - these prices have not yet be altered so with the exception of really green cars and the aforementioned 4X4's you will need to add another £15 for 12 months tax. What is more worring to me is that Brown is implementing the biggest rise in fuel duty for 8 years!!! I see ques on the forecourts!!!!!

I must be in a minority as I am pleased that he has increased the tax on more polluting cars and lowered it on more efficient cars. This can only make the manufacturuers strive to produce more efficient, lighter vehicles in the future with more advanced powertrains.

I am not keen on these 4x4's clogging up city streets and used on the school run and I would not be upset to see less about. I do say live and let live and I'm all for freedom of choice, just that there should be a financial consequence to that choice. It shouldn't mean that you can't drive a car with higher fuel consumption, just that you may have to pay a bit more for the privelage.
