A3 Quattro vs 2WD

I'm looking at getting a 2.0T FSI and one of the cars I'm looking at is a quattro.

I don't need a 4WD so is there anything I should be aware of, any potential issues?

I know for example that it's about 150kg heavier and fuel consumption is slightly worse as a result. How about how the car feels to drive?

I have had a 2.0T A3 FWD and have a S3 now. Yes quattro is heavier. But the handling is better in the corners.

Simple answer No not at all

I have an A3 2.0TFSI Quattro and another A3 2.0TDi 140 FWD.

The FWD TDI looses traction far to easily when the road is wet, obviously the Quattro is much better. There's a very brief moment of front wheel spin and then drive is shoved to teh back wheels and you're away. The same goes for aggressive pullaways on a dry road.

Put your foot down mid bend and the Q is more planted, much less under steer. On motorways and A roads there's no difference. In February's snow life was much easier but don't kid yourself; wide tyres with a sports tread pattern are not that good on snow even with 4WD.

The Q does feel heavier and fuel consumption is poor at 25mpg over 25000miles i driven (compared to my MK4 Golf 1.8t that averaged 28-29mpg).

One down side is luggage space; the boot floor is a good deal higher in the Quattro.

Fianlly, I plan to replace the car next summer, and I will be sticking with Quattro.
