    Wise forum people,

I've just bought a new Sony MEX-BT2600 to replace the Concert head unit in my 2006 Audi A3 Sport. I have no idea about the audio system beyond that it's a Concert unit manufactured by Grundig, I know there are various A3 audio setups including Bose systems, and subwoofers, etc. but I don't know how to tell what else is installed in the car.

I've used a Halfords PC2-18-4 "VW/Audi" harness adapter to connect up. I'm fairly sure this is wrong as there are quite a few problems:

    1. The unit doesn't switch off when I remove the keys from the ignition (additional question: I've now removed the front panel from the stereo, will it still potentially flatten my battery? Eek!).
    2. There's no audio from the rear speakers, but the front ones are fine. Looking at the connection diagram on the top of the Concert unit, this would seem to be explained by LF & RF being the only connections that have been made via the harness adapter.
    3. I have a spare black "block" connector that doesn't fit into the harness adapter. This has quite a few wires coming out of it that are now not connected to anything.
    4. What's the purpose of the yellowish connector on the back of the Concert unit? This lead is also now not connected to anything on the Sony.

Let me know if you need any further information.

    Thanks in advance...

And this is the back of the new Sony unit, with the supplied connector (not the harness adapter)

    Ok, no responses so far...

    I'm thinking I need either:

    Autoleads PC9-401, PC9-404 or PC9-410.

    Can anyone advise???

Your car has no Ignition feed in the factory loom as the original unit switches on/off using the CAN data bus.

You have the basic non-Bose audio looking at your connections so I think any of the leads you have suggested will do, but you will still need to hard wire an Ignition feed from the fuse box or possibly the cigarette lighter to get that side of things working correctly.

Eek. That's not quite the simple "you need to buy this cable" answer I was looking for...

Surely there must be enough people out there that aren't happy with just a bog-standard CD player in their car these days for someone to have come up with something? Or is this Audi's fault?

I'd have no idea where to start with the wiring... any pointers? Or would I be best off going to my independent VAG specialist and getting them to do it?

I have the same stereo in a similar car. I'm planning on getting a Kenwood KDC-BT60U which I'm hoping will be fitted with the aid of the following adaptors...

CT27AA05 Aerial/Antenna VAG Active ISO Adaptor
CT51-AU02 Active System Adapter for Audi 1998>
    CT24AU07 Facia Plate for Audi A3 2000>

Does anyone know if these are correct and complete?

    All help welcome...

Does anyone has a full diagram of what al of the possible wires do? The yellow connector in the above photos is also a mystery to me...

    Thanks,

    Martin
