My passenger electric window mechanism has broken. Just makes a horrid grinding sound when I press the button.

Does anyone know how I can safely (minimising damage) remove the door panel to get to the mechanism?.

Hello - did you get anywhere with this?? I have EXACTLY the same problem!!

Spoke to my old man, he says the window has come off the runners?? I'm thinking that the only solution is to take the door off and have a good look around.

I had a look in the HAYNES manual, it mentions about relay or fuse gone, but I figure that if they where gone there would be no power at all??

Unless anybody can suggest anything - looks like I will need to take the door trim off to investigate.

    Crowbar here I come....?

should be 6 screws(torques screws)that need to come out then panel should pop out with little force..you might need to take out plastic cover from around door handle(depending on model)to get it of.mind the wiring inside though, sometimes it is short and can break...

A recurring theme with Golfs and Passats - have a look at
    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum//...ead.php?t=6831
There's a link on the above thread to a full stripdown and replacement of the regulator mechanisms.

    Cheers
