    Hello again

If windscreen wash is leaking from the bottom of the car is that normal? i asked about no windscreen wash not coming out of the rear wiper on my 03 polo 1.4 16v

the garage i took it to eventually got it working but i noticed each time i pressed the washer it eventually started dripping down and falling to the ground from underneat the car. Is that normal??

It only seems to happen when i press the wipers to push out the windscreen wash. I don't think its a leak from anything underneath the car but just the dripping from the windscreen wash.

    Can anyone help?

basically what happend was while the engineer was pressing the washer at time the water was spraying out from the rear wiper, but then 2 seconds later nothing would happen, or at times it would take its time for the washer to come out when it should be almost instant etc It had a mind of its own. the engineer was puzzled by the fact he didn't know where that water was going since it wasn't coming out, he told me what coudve happened like all this water is building up somewhere in the boot but he opened up the boot and there was no sign of a leak anywhere and i even told him i opened the boot up numerous of times before but there was no dripping water.

When he eventually moved the car thats when we noticed a whole puddle of this windscreen wash on the ground which obviously had come from underneath the car?? Most of which was coming out from the under the bonnet i think because thats where it was. So he opened the bonnet, tightened something up not sure what exactly and then he just played about with the rear wiper poking the actual hole where the windscreen wash comes out from and we done several tests to make sure the water hit the center of the screen because it was just going everywhere. So like i said its working now but something seems to be leaking from underneath the car and this only happens when i want the windscreen wash to come out. I mean have you had this problem before, is it serious?

How much would that be to fix do you know at the vw dealer because if it is not to much i might get i done with the service next week.

I had exactly the same problem recently. There is a hose connector under the abs unit which had come apart (cold weather and frozen fluid probably the cause).
Takes no more than 30 mins to do and all you need is a philips screwdriver to remove the air filter housing which allows access to the hose connector.

I'm still a fairly new driver so can you sort of explain where the air filter is? I don't even know what half the things are under the bonnet.

Also once i do eventually take the filter off what do i need to do with the hose connector in order to stop that leaking once and for all?

The car is actaully due for a full service this wednesday with another big job, is it worth getting this problem checked out by vw at the same time?

The thing is i nreally don't like attempting things on my own especially if its under the bonnet becuase i worry i might makes things worse if i fiddle around with it, would it cost much to get this sorted at the dealer if i had to?

Sure you can get it fixed during the service I was just trying to save you some cash.
Not knowing the exact layout of the 1.4 16V i can't describe exactly what you would have to dismantle but to put it simply if you look into the engine bay top r/h corner half way down the bulkhead there is a join in the pipe.In my case i simply popped it back together again and put some duct tape around it to ensure it wouldn't come apart again.
